Week 9 DevLog_KU
At this point in time during development, Week 9 marks the beginning and flourishing of detailing the game's environment--namely, the section in which I am solely responsible for. Utilizing the assets the team decided to breathe life into this project with, and referencing the AI-generated concept art for this particular region of the map, I began to carefully design the environment; ensuring to craft a section that seamlessly blends together nicely with that of its surrounding regions (each one helmed by the two other environmental artists). I took the utmost care to fill the space appropriately--making sure not to add too little to where it was bare, and not too much as to become an unreadable, jumbled mess of clustered models. The path, previously-etched a week prior, during the eighth week, was preserved, and brought to life further by both the removal of assets, and purposeful "decorating" of said path; following the infinity, figure-eight shaped pathway, as pre-designed in the overall map concept art. The "foliage brush" was a vital asset to this step as well, to help cover as much ground as possible; it avoided the path, only crossing in every now and then to add extra "character" to this particular section.
Detailing this particular section for the present ninth week of development took approximately 7 hours to fully realize and complete, as careful planning and design choices took the driver's seat in ensuring that the environment would both look appropriate on its own, and transition well with its joined areas.
