Week 11 Work Blog - Irie Turner

This week was focused on creating UV maps for the and getting them prepped for texture work. Unwrapping models for UVs was always something I struggled a bit at, especially for character models since I don't have a large amount of experience with them, but this proved to be good practice for it. While working on them I kept open Blender's documentation on UV tools, and also would occasionally cross-reference a video tutorial by Blender Guru on youtube to help out.

The tutorial is a little bit outdated, but most of its principles and workflow still remain relevant to current Blender.

In this last image I was testing out how the UVs looked with Blender's texture paint tool - which is primarily what I'll be using along with simple texture images only on a color channel for the style of the game. For the next week, I'll be starting off early with cleaning up the UVs some more and then finalizing the textures, and with the style of the game might end up being one of the easier parts of the process.
