Week 12 DevLog_KU
Week 12 was one of the more intense weeks for development: this week began the process of creating various animations--an average of 4 per model--for our game, on top of continuing to playtest the functionality of our game to check for any errors, bugs, and glitches, as well as providing artwork for our game's storybook-esque opening. Once the models were finalized and posted to Perforce, I downloaded them, and began setting up proper workspaces. I installed Blender for the animations, and had to research various videos and tutorials on how to properly animate within the software, as it was not one I was previously familiar with, and continued to organize the animation files accordingly within it. As the rigging is still not complete, I could not fully begin the actual animation--only set up the workspace, and prepare in advance while waiting for their completion.
Another thing for this week I completed was the artwork for the storybook-esque opening for the demo of our game, utilizing the Procreate software. Another team member had crafted the page design, and implemented the text, whereas I finished it by not only adding in pictures to further detail and enhance the writing, but also added background details to give the pages a more weathered, worn texture to them through shading methods and different brushes. Once that was finalized, it was sent off to the group, and uploaded to Perforce for ease-of-access between our team members.
One of the last things I did, on the side outside of animation, providing 2D artwork, and playtesting our current build of the game, was update and adjust the design of our Itch.Io page. The credits were re-adjusted accordingly by role to follow a more professional list, and a background image was imported and set to be "fixed" to the page while scrolling and reading through our game's story synopsis, examining the images, previewing the controls and future updates, and reviewing the credits of our development team.
